Recently, Shell joined with Nissan to give nearly 50 journalists the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the new, highly anticipated Nissan GT-R sports car - fueled by Shell V-Power®! The event was held in and around Lake Tahoe, Nev., and featured an exhibition on the track at the Reno-Fernley Raceway in Fernley, Nev. Because the Fernley track wasn't close to a gasoline station that could provide the high quality fuel recommended by the GT-R engineers, Nissan joined with Shell to supply Shell V-Power®- the most advanced fuel Shell has ever developed.
Each GT-R engine is hand crafted by a master technician in Yokohama, Japan. The car features an all-new 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 producing 480 horsepower and an estimated 430 lb-ft of torque, while meeting ultra-low emission vehicle (ULEV) standards. This car really gets up and goes! With a 0-60 mph time in under 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of 193 mph, Nissan's supercar beat out the Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 Turbo in a head-to-head test by Car and Driver. The GT-R also has a 19.5-gallon tank, for which Nissan recommends using only premium gasoline, like Shell V-Power®.
Shell V-Power® actively cleans your engine as you drive by removing performance-robbing gunk that can build up on critical engine parts, specifically intake valves and fuel injectors. It is a premium gasoline with more than five times the minimum amount of cleaning agents required by federal government standards and can clean up engine gunk left by low-quality discount gasolines. And for a hand-built engine of this caliber, keeping the engine in pristine condition by using a high-quality fuel is one of the most important maintenance practices you can perform!
