The world of Shell motorsports has been filled with exciting activity over the past few months. Below are some highlights…

Formula One 2007. Felipe Massa completed two wins in a row at the recent Spanish Grand Prix, taking the sixth pole position of his career and a new lap record! Massa was joined on the podium by both McLaren Mercedes’ drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso who stood on the second and third steps respectively.

“A win like this is very important to us; not only do we know that the Shell products we are developing for Ferrari are doing a fantastic job, but our customers around the world who use Shell V-Power and Shell Helix are benefiting from the learnings which evolve from our close partnership with Ferrari,” said Alberto Friedrich, global sponsorship manager of Shell brands international.
Coming up, the second round of the European season will be competed in Monaco on May 27.

Harvick Wins His First Daytona 500. Kevin Harvick's victorious debut behind the wheel of the yellow and red No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil car at the Daytona 500 will be remembered as one of the most exciting finishes in the 49-year history of the “Great American Race.” Harvick won the race by a mere two one-hundredths of a second to claim his career-first Daytona 500 win, coming on the heals of his first-ever Daytona International Speedway win one day prior in the Busch Series Race.

Since then Harvick has finished in the top-10 in all but one Busch Series race. He took first at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 10 and placed second in both the Nicorrette 300 in Atlanta and the Aaron’s 312 at the Talladega Speedway in Alabama.

Audi Wins Again at Sebring. The Audi R10 TDI, powered by Shell V-Power Diesel race fuel, remains the sports car to beat. With an impressive victory at the recent 12 Hours of Sebring, the R10 ran without the slightest technical problem during the whole race on the extremely demanding track.

From its debut at Sebring in 2006, the R10 has gone 8-0 in ALMS competition. Last June, the R10 became the first diesel-powered car to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

With the help of Shell V-Power Diesel technology continuously cleaning the fuel injection system, the winning Audi R10 TDI was able to sustain great performance. Shell V-Power Diesel is a top performance diesel fuel designed to help modern diesel engines deliver more power, for longer. This remarkable result is due in part to the inclusion of Shell GTL Fuel in the race formulation.
