McLaren-Mercedes’ driver, Lewis Hamilton, took victory at the U.S. Grand Prix in Indianapolis on June 17 in what proved to be a race dominated by the two championship leading teams – McLaren-Mercedes and Scuderia Ferrari.

Hamilton’s teammate Fernando Alonso held onto second and Scuderia Ferrari driver Felipe Massa rounded off the podium trio. Ferrari’s Kimi Räikkönen finished in fourth place. After making steady progress towards the front of the pack and with several laps remaining, Räikkönen picked up significant pace. Supported by Shell V-Power, he completed some of the fastest times of the race.
McLaren-Mercedes heads up the Constructors’ World Championship on 106 points, 35 points ahead of the Scuderia. Hamilton still leads the Drivers’ World Championship on 58 points, 10 points clear of teammate Alonso in second. Massa and Räikkönen’s performances in Indy put them on 39 and 32 points respectively.
