If you have been to a Shell station within the last year, chances are you are familiar with the quirky scientists in the white lab coats advising you to “Stop Gunky Build-up.” These Passionate Experts were part of 2007’s highly successful “Stop Gunky Build-up” advertising campaign that will continue through 2008.

Like last year, the campaign will focus on the Shell commitment to fuel quality and the company’s mission to help consumers stop gunky build-up on their vehicles’ critical engine parts. In 2008, Shell will continue network and national cable television advertising, while adding new commercials featuring the Passionate Experts with NASCAR driver, Kevin Harvick.

In conjunction with television advertising, Shell also will introduce an online campaign, radio advertising, outdoor billboards and all-new in-store promotions. The goal is to educate motorists that “All Gasolines Are Not The Same.”

Kicking off 2008 is the “Un-Gunk Your Car” promotion. From February 11 through March 30, Shell customers who purchase a minimum of 10 gallons of gasoline will receive one free microfiber cleaning cloth to help “un-gunk” the interior of their car (no fuel purchase required in New Jersey). There are three limited-edition cloth designs available, including an “I Hate Gunkversion with Kevin Harvick’s No. 29 logo. Each cloth comes with a 2008 Sprint Cup Series race schedule in support of the Shell sponsorship with Richard Childress Racing (RCR), Kevin Harvick, and the No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil car.
